New piece :: Hippie crown

Just a quick note that I'll be adding a new piece to our Pebbles & Paisley shop today. It is a little hippie, but totally modern. This piece is perfect for a fall wedding or for everyday wear. Enjoy!

Corrie and Shane's Photodate with Mariah

Don't these two look so sweet and tame? Don't let this photo fool you! I had lulled them into a state of relaxation ... but it couldn't last very long, because they are actually FULL of energy and they are best buds who are more than a little shall we say competitive... read on!
How could I say such a thing about Corrie and Shane... here they are doing more cute poses...

AH HA! True colors!!! A thumb war!

Now for a jumping contest! Who can jump higher? I don't know Shane, Corrie defenitley has some loft. I am also afraid to say that while your legs are nice, hers are gorgeous! WOW!!

Here's shane being very creative and romantic. Too bad right after this photo he did a series of bunny ears and faces behind her back.

Cute again...

Of course this doesn't surprise me at all and explains a lot!

Guess they are going to duke it out! Stay tuned for the wedding in September. I wonder if Corrie will be able to do that in her dress?

A numbers game :: I like to quantify everything

A handful of people know that I really like to quantify things... everything. I don't know why but having logical numeric groupings just works for me.

That said, when I'm building pieces, I have a little time to think and my mind often gravitates to numbers.

While thinking about numbers, I realized that I've been selling on for about 6.5 months, which is about 195 days. During that time, I have created about 700 pieces on Etsy alone, which is about 3-4 pieces a day if you are counting 7 days a week. I just saw that my Etsy convos have topped 1,104 today and for each unique convo, there are anywhere from 3-20+ exchanges (i.e. A client writes and I write back = 1). That is about 11.5 exchanges on average, but let's stay low and say the average is about 8. Multiply that by the 1,104, and that is about 8,832 exchanges (not including a good portion of communication dealt through emailing). That equals about 45 convos a day, 7 days a week since I started. At anywhere from 1 to 15 minutes per convo depending on the amount of details needed or an average of 8 minutes, that would be about 6 hours of convo'ing a day 7 days a week or about 42 hours a week, 168 hours a month, 1092 hours since I started selling on Etsy, or about 45.5 days in the past 6.5 months. That is equivalent to 1.5 months of 24 hour convo'ing! Doesn't it make you dizzy?

Just some random thoughts... I think I need to get out more.
;)

A more simple number to digest... Matt and I will have been married for 1 year in about 1 month. :)

Props for Melissa from another Melissa!

Hey Melissa-

Ethan and I loved the blog - the wedding pictures are so beautiful. It's amazing how nice we can look. The best man was like... "oh my god Ethan, did you have a stand in?!" HA HA! That's when you know you have the best photographer out there, you look better than you do in person. I'm so glad you and Ara were there. For a while I thought you were a part of the wedding because people couldn't stop talking about you guys, especially after viewing the blog. Ethan and I are so happy and so excited about how everything turned out.

Lauren and Benjamin at the Weekapaug Golf Club 8-2-08 Photos by Trish and Sarah

OK, I know that I talk about the weather all the time...but this weekend there was some serious drama!!! I packed my car with all my gear and headed down to Westerly for Lauren and Ben's wedding, the plan was for the ceremony to be held at her Grandmother's home out on the lawn...or was it?! The rain started coming down and it was intense! Going from the car to the house was an ordeal, I hid under a huge poncho and was able to keep the cameras dry. But don't feel too bad for us...within the hour the skies cleared and it turned out to be a most beautiful day! I must just be really lucky. So the ceremony was outside and it was fantastic!
Here is Lauren cascading down the steps to see Ben for the first time...

He waited for her on the dock, hey how about that snazzy suit he's wearing.

This first meeting in a fun place is so awesome! Notice the wet dock, it had JUST stopped raining when we decided to do photos out there even if it was sprinkling.

This was an amazing bouquet by Sayles, I love the orange!

This was my super fun creative moment with them in front of the pool, I can't get enough of this photo!

Speaking of snazzy suits!

The two Grandmothers performed the ceremony, very special indeed!

The ceremony was such a beautiful mix of thoughtful sentiment and humor.

A sweet moment right after the ceremony...

Here are the two official officiants of the ceremony...

It was so nice to be witness to all of the heartfelt emotion between the bride and groom and their families.

You know I love lighting, these lanterns were a nice touch.

Another amazing arrangement by Sayles, it was so nice it didn't even look real!

Here I am working my magic, I didn't know that I smiled, or what am I doing?

While the adults sip fancy drinks and chat, the kids make their own fun...

Hey, look at that sun, this is the most beautiful time in the evening during the summer.
Always a scary moment for the person being thrown into the air!

Luckily they made it back down to the floor unscathed.

This was the coolest band! hey were from Texas, sort of a Polka band but with a really hip beat, so fun!!!! They are playing in NYC tonight (8/5) check them out!

Lucia the wedding coordinator did an amazing job of keeping the day going, she was right there the entire time making sure things went smoothly. She carries a huge kit for any kind of emergency, hair, make-up, wardrobe etc. She is prepared!

Lauren was so nice, she gave me a shout out when they thanked everyone during the reception, thanks! Back at 'cha, you guys were a pleasure!

Progress Post Updated :: Today through August 10th only

So sorry for not updating the "progress post" sooner! It's been a wild wedding season and it's about to getting just a bit more busy before things begin to slow down a tad in November.
Just a reminder, please read the title of the post. These are pieces and orders being worked on from now through August 10th only. It is just a fraction of the total orders list, so please don't panic if you do not see your name on the list and your order is due after August 10th. You are on the master list. :) Also, I am sure I have typos with Etsy usernames and the number of pieces in the "()" might not be updated. I try to make these useful and more of a quick glance type of thing, which is why I don't list everyone's names. If I did, it would probably reach to the bottom of this page and who wants to scroll through all of that? ;) Also, as usual, this list is not in some sort of rigid order and weddings occurring sooner will be shuffled around if needed. Thank you to everyone for being so understanding and wonderfully patient!!!

New Venture! :: Pebbles & Paisley

My wheels are always turning and for a long time, Matt & I have discussed opening a second Etsy shop that would feature more ready made pieces. It's my guilty pleasure and also a great way for Matt & I to collaborate and spend time together. The new shop is named Pebbles & Paisley (http://pebblesandpaisley.etsy.com) and will feature luxury wedding finds including ring pillows, corsages, and anything else we can think up. I'm not sure about when I'll have time to list items, but there are many in line to be listed and shared with everyone and I can't wait to further develop this line come fall and winter. For now, here's a taste of what's to come:
